MANILA, Philippines – Hindi pa narerebyu ng Malakanyang ang buong kasulatan o teksto ng desisyon ng Korte Suprema.
Kaya ang panawagan ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro sa lahat ay igalang ang Korte Suprema at ilagay ang kanilang tiwala sa institusyon.
“We have yet to review the full text of the Supreme Court’s decision. We call on everyone to respect the Supreme Court and place their trust in our institutions,” ani Castro.
“The impeachment process is a matter handled by the legislative and judicial branches, and we recognize their independence in carrying out their constitutional mandates,” aniya pa rin.
Nauna rito, idineklara ng Korte Suprema na labag sa Konstitusyon ang articles of impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte, ayon sa anunsyon ni court spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting, Biyernes, Hulyo 25.
Ito ay dahil lumalabag ang kaso sa one-year bar rule at dapat umanong masunod ang due process sa lahat ng yugto ng impeachment.
“The SC has ruled that the House impeachment complaint versus VP Sara Duterte is barred by the one-year rule and that due process or fairness applies in all stages of the impeachment process,” ani Ting sa isang press briefing.
Ang desisyon ay kaugnay ng petisyong inihain ni Duterte at ng kanyang abogado upang ipawalang-bisa ang impeachment proceedings.
Apat na reklamo ang isinampa laban kay Duterte dahil sa umano’y maling paggamit ng confidential funds.
Ang ikaapat na reklamo, na sinuportahan ng mahigit isang-katlo ng mga kongresista, ay naipasa na sa Senado bago lumabas ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema. Kris Jose
