MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III nitong Martes na maaari nang kunin ng Department of Justice (DOJ) si dating DPWH Bulacan 1st district engineer Henry Alcantara mula sa kustodiya ng Senado anumang oras.
Ito ay matapos sabihin ni Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairperson Panfilo “Ping” Lacson noong Lunes na pumapayag siyang i-turn over si Alcantara sa DOJ.
Nang tanungin kung maaari bang kunin ng DOJ si Alcantara anumang oras, sinabi ni Sotto: “Yes, basta sa DOJ. Pwede kasi namin hiramin din ‘yun.”
“Just waiting for DOJ to get him,” sabi ni Sotto sa media.
Si Alcantara ay kasalukuyang nakakulong sa Senado matapos siyang i-cite in contempt ng Blue Ribbon Committee noong Setyembre 18, 2025.
Inanunsiyo ng DOJ noong nakaraang Huwebes na itinuturing na si Alcantara bilang state witness sa imbestigasyon ng gobyerno kaugnay ng flood control controversy.
Ayon kay DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez, magsusumite ang DOJ ng pormal na kahilingan para sa paglipat ng kustodiya ni Alcantara sa Witness Protection Program (WPP).
“The DOJ is set to file a formal request letter for the transfer of custody of Henry Alcantara to the WPP,” sabi ni Martinez sa mensaheng ipinadala sa mga reporter.
“As for the remaining resolutions on the cases involving SYMS Construction Trading, these are scheduled to be released this week and are currently being finalized by the handling prosecutors,” dagdag niya. RNT/MND
