MANILA, Philippines – Pinangalanan ang isang opisyal ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST) bilang recipient ng International Organization of Standardization (ISO) Excellence Award.
Kinilala si Dr. Rico Cabangon, officer-in-charge ng DOST Forest Products Research and Development Institute, para sa kanyang trabaho sa Bamboo at Rattan (ISO/TC 296), maging ang direksyon niya sa working group sa Bamboo for Furniture (WG 5).
Dagdag pa, kinilala rin ng ISO ang kanyang mga kontribusyon sa paglikha ng ISO 6128:2023, na naglalarawan sa specifications at testing procedures para sa laminated goods na binubuo ng bamboo strips na magagamit sa indoor furniture.
“The formulation of ISO 6128:2023 aims to boost the global trade of laminated bamboo and strengthen its value, effectiveness, and competitiveness in the market,” saad sa press release ng DOST.
Si Cabangon ang unang Filipino na nakatanggap ng award.
“This award is really a bonus to what I am doing, because I already felt rewarded because of doing that job,” ayon kay Cabangon.
“I know that there are other experts out there who can be part of developing standards, not only for bamboo but for a myriad of other products, which I know other Filipinos can also excel in,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
