MANILA, Philippines – Pumirma ng kasunduan ang Department of Tourism (DOT) kasama ang
Department of National Defense (DND) at Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) upang mapalakas ang industriya ng turismo sa Mindanao.
Ayon kay DOT Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, ang pagpirma ng memorandum of agreement (MOA) kasama ang partner government agencies ay pasok sa pangarap ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na i-develop pa ang Mindanao sa pamamagitan ng turismo.
Aniya, maraming bagay ang maipagmamalaki ang Mindanao sa mga turistang lokal at dayuhan lalo pa’t mayaman din sa likas-yaman at cultural heritage ang rehiyon.
“This (Mindanao) is a land of promise, a land of diversity and rich cultural heritage,” sinabi ni Frasco.
Nanawagan naman si DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. sa local government units na bumuo ng kani-kanilang tourism plans at makipagtulungan sa concerned stakeholders para maisulong ang kanilang tourism developmental projects.
Ayon kay Abalos, magsasanay pa sila ng mas maraming tourist police na ipakakalat sa mga tourist destination.
“Through this convergence, the DILG commits to ensuring that our local policemen are properly deployed in tourist destinations,” aniya.
Nangako naman si DND Undersecretary Angelito De Leon, na gagawing prayoridad ng ahensya ang seguridad ng mga turista at tutulong sa mga partner agencies sa pakikibahagi sa tourism development projects.
“Together we will show to the world that the Philippines is not only home to pristine beaches, rich cultural heritage, distinct cuisines, and hospitable communities, but also a safe beautiful haven to explore and enjoy,” sinabi ni De Leon.
Umaasa naman si Frasco na lalago pa ang tourism industry ng Mindanao.
“Our top source market are the South Koreans, followed by the Americans, Australians, Canadians, and Japanese (in terms of tourist visits),” aniya. RNT/JGC
