MANILA, Philippines- Sinabi ni US President Joe Biden na dapat na ipagmalaki ng Filipino-Americans ang kanilang mga tagumpay at mithiin.
Sa naging talumpati ni Biden noong Oktubre 21 (Washington time), nakiisa si Biden sa pagdiriwang ng Filipino-American History Month, binigyang-diin ang kontribusyon ng mga miyembro ng Filipino-American community sa bansa.
Aniya pa, mula noong itinatag ang Estados Unidos, ang Filipino-Americans “have enriched the very essence of who we are as a people.”
“They are the community leaders, who advocate and stand up for all of us,” ang sinabi ni Biden.
“They are the first responders and Service members, who put themselves at risk to keep the rest of us safe,” dagdag niya.
Winika ni Biden na ang mga miyembro ng komunidad ay kumakatawan sa ‘best of who America is’ bilang isang bansa, bilang atleta at artists, entrepreneurs at engineers, public servants at health care workers, at marami pang iba.
“America is the only country in the world with a heart and soul that draw from old and new. For hundreds of years, people from around the globe have made the courageous trek to our nation’s shores,” paglalahad ni Biden.
“By honoring and reflecting on the proud history and heritage of this vibrant community, we all come closer to realizing the full promise of America for all Americans,” wika pa niya.
Sa kabilang dako, hinikayat ni Biden ang bawat isa sa komunidad para maramdaman ang “tremendous pride” na hindi lamang para sa kanilang pansariling “achievements at aspirations” kundi maging ang mga tao na nakapaligid sa kanila habang ipinagdiriwang ng mga ito ang kahanga-hangang okasyon.
“Dreamers and doers like you embody the possibilities of this great Nations—and that is a big part of the reason why I have never been more optimistic about our future,” ang sinabi ni Biden. Kris Jose
