UNITED STATES – Nakikita na ng Estados Unidos ang “finish line” sa nagpapatuloy na giyera sa Iran na nasa ikalimang linggo na, ayon kay US Secretary of State Marco Rubio nitong Martes, Marso 31.
Kasabay nito ay susuriin naman ng US ang ugnayan nito sa NATO matapos ang giyera.
“We can see the finish line. It’s not today, it’s not tomorrow, but it is coming,” ani Rubio.
Nagsimula ang giyera noong Pebrero 28 nang maglunsad ng pag-atake ang US at Israel laban sa Iran.
Tumugon naman ang Tehran ng mga pag-atake sa Israel at Gulf states na mayroong US bases.
Nagpataas ang naturang giyera sa presyo ng produktong petrolyo sa buong mundo dahil sa panggigipit naman ng Iran sa mga dumadaan sa Strait of Hormuz.
Ani Rubio, may palitan ng mensahe sa pagitan ng Iran at US at mayroong posibilidad ng “direct meeting at some point” sa pagitan ng dalawang panig.
“There are messages being exchanged, there are talks going on. There is the potential for direct meeting at some point,” sinabi ni Rubio.
Nauna nang sinabi ni President Donald Trump na maaaring tapusin ng US ang military attacks sa Iran sa loob ng dalawa hanggang tatlong linggo.
Sinabi ni Rubio na “that there’s nothing any government is doing, or any country in the world is doing now to help Iran that is in any way impeding our mission.”
“But I do think, unfortunately, we are going to have to reexamine whether or not this alliance that has served this country well for a while is still serving that purpose, or has it now become a one-way street where America is simply in a position to defend Europe, but when we need the help of our allies, they’re going to deny us basing rights, and they’re going to deny us overflight,” dagdag pa niya.
