MANILA, Philippines – Sinupalpal ni Senador Sherwin Gatchalian nitong Sabado, Hulyo 10 si suspended Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo matapos nitong sabihin na tutok na tutok sa kanya ang Senado kasabay ng pag-iimbestiga nito sa kanyang citizenship at kaugnayan sa POGO.
“I don’t think she should put too much premium on herself, this is in aid of legislation so we can help the country fight POGOs, fight people who abuse our system, and rid our government of people who lie about their past and their documents,” ani Gatchalian sa panayam ng ANC.
Nitong Huwebes, naging mainit ang isyu ng naging pahayag ni Guo sa inilabas nito sa Facebook sa hindi nito pagdalo sa imbestigasyon sa kabila ng arrest order ng Senado.
“I am deeply concerned about and keep questioning why Senators Win Gatchalian and Risa Hontiveros and other offices seem fixated on me,” ani Guo.
Sinabi pa ng suspended mayor na ginagamit umano siya ng mga politiko “to boost their political ambitions.”
Tugon naman dito ni Gatchalian, sinusubukan lamang ni Guo na ilihis ang atensyon ng publiko dahil mayroon nang malakas na ebidensya laban sa kanya.
“The bottomline here is Alice Guo is lying and she is evading the invitation of the Senate because she cannot give straight answers and evidence is just too strong. That’s why the bottomline is she is diverting attention,” ani Gatchalian.
Para kay Gatchalian, hindi katanggap-tanggap ang palusot ni Guo na “stress and trauma” kung kaya’t hindi siya dumadalo sa pagdinig ng Senado.
“Once you enter public service, once you go into the public limelight, you have to be prepared to see a lot of criticisms… We have to be ready for that as public servant. That’s the reality of public service,” saad ng mambabatas.
Si Guo ay may pending petition pa sa Korte Suprema na nananawagang harangin ang Senado sa pagpwersa sa kanyang pagdalo sa imbestigasyon.
Kumpiyansa naman si Gatchalian na ibabasura ng SC ang petisyon ni Guo.
“There’s a long-standing tradition between co-equal branches of government and I’m very sure the SC will recognize that the Congress and Senate is a co-equal branch and it is mandated to conduct investigations in aid of legislation and we can invite resource persons to help us craft effective legislation,” ani Gatchalian.
