MANILA, Philippines — Tinatayang umabot sa 1,200 ang maaaring masangkot sa umano’y ghost flood control projects sa bansa, ayon sa Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Sinabi ni ICI Commissioner Rogelio “Babes” Singson na inaasahan ang karagdagang ebidensya mula sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Philippine National Police (PNP) sa darating na weekend o susunod na linggo.
“Sixty-four of them have been mobilized nationwide to focus on anomalous projects, especially ghost projects, and the projects undertaken by the notorious contractors mentioned,” ani Singson.
Paliwanag niya, karaniwang 15 tao ang kasangkot sa bawat ghost project, kaya umaabot sa malaking bilang ang posibleng nasasangkot.
Ngayong Biyernes, inirekomenda ng ICI at Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) ang plunder at iba pang kaso laban kay dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez at dating Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co. Kasama sa referral ang paglabag sa Republic Act 7080 (plunder), Sections 3(A), 3(B), 3(E), at 3(H) ng Republic Act 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act), at Article 210 ng Revised Penal Code (direct bribery).
Ayon kay DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, kasama sa pagsusumite ang mga kontrata mula 2016 hanggang 2025 ng Sunwest Inc. at Hi-Tone Construction, pati na rin ang sworn testimonies ng retired Sgt. Orly Guteza. RNT
