Los Angeles, USA – For the first time in its 81 year in the industry, isang Fil-Am comedian ang napiling host sa Golden Globes na gaganapin this Sunday, January 15 (Monday Manila time) at The Beverly Hilton hotel.

Si Jo Koy, ang 52-year-old stand-up comedian, ang magiging emcee sa Golden Globes 2024 and he couldn’t believe it when he got the call from the producers na siya ang magho-host sa “Hollywood Party of the Year.”

“I am very proud to represent my family, my culture on this stage,” sabi niya sa isang exclusive interview.

“I am so excited because my family and I have been through this journey for 35 years. I started in 1989. And I can’t wait to have fun with this group of people right here (Golden Globes). This is a dream come true to finally make it on this stage.”

Jo Koy is also the first Asian comedian to host the Golden Globes solo.

Kung matatandaan, ang aktres na si Sandra Oh ang first woman of Asian descent na nag-host ng Globes, co-hosted with comedian Andy Samberg in 2019.

Adams, and Shameik Moore.

Ayon kay Jo Koy got, may advice sa kanya ang kanyang friend na si Chris Rock: “Chris told me to enjoy the moment and not to worry about my costume change.

“He told me to watch the show, be ready and be prepared so that when something happens, I would be prepared to talk about it. I think that is the best advice that I got. If he didn’t tell me that, I would be having 19 costume changes backstage.”

Hindi naman magsusuot ng Philippine barong si Jo Koy.

“I will be rocking in my nice tux.”

Isasama ni Jo Koy ang kanyang Filipina mom at anak this Sunday.

“Yes, I will bring my son and my sister and everyone on my team will be there,” sabi niya.
