MANILA, Philippines – Nagpadala ng liham si Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero kay Speaker Martin Romualdez kaugnay sa kanselasyon ng presentation ng articles of impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte na nakatakda sana ngayong Miyerkules, Hunyo 11.
“In view of the referral earlier today of the verified impeachment complaint against Vice-President Sara Zimmerman Duterte to the Senate, sitting as an impeachment court, and with the issuance of the writ of summons to the Vice-President, the putative presentation of the Articles of Impeachment which was scheduled for June 11, 2025 has been rendered moot and is thereby cancelled,” saad sa liham ni Escudero na may petsang Hunyo 10.
Matatandaan na Martes ng gabi ay pinagbotohan ng Senado, na nagsisilbing isang impeachment court, na ibalik ang articles of impeachment laban kay Duterte sa Kamara nang hindi ito ibinabasura o kinakansela.
Nag-isyu rin si Escudero, presiding officer ng impeachment court, ng writ of summons kay Duterte at nagbibigay sa kanya ng non-extendible period ng 10 araw mula sa pagkakatanggap ng summon para magpaliwanag.
Nakatakdang isilbi ng Senate sergeant-at-arms ang writ of summons kay Duterte sa opisina nito sa Mandaluyong City.
Sa oras na matanggap, si Duterte ay mayroong 10 araw para sagutin ang articles of impeachment laban sa kanya.
Si Duterte ay kasalukuyang nasa Malaysia para sa personal trip kasama ang kanyang pamilya.
Matatandaan na noong Pebrero 5 ay inimpeach na si Duterte sa Kamara, sa 200 mambabatas na nag-endorso ng reklamo.
Inakusahan si Duterte ng betrayal of public trust, culpable violation of the constitution, graft and corruption, at iba pang krimen. RNT/JGC
