MANILA, Philippines – Naibalik na ang kumpiyansa sa ekonomiya ng Pilipinas kasabay ng pagsisikap ng pamahalaan na tugunan ang korapsyon sa infrastructure projects partikular na sa flood control, ayon kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. nitong Sabado, Nobyembre 1.
Sa isang press conference kasama ang media delegation nito sa South Korea, tinanong si Marcos sa kanyang reaksyon tungkol sa isang Amerikanong negosyante na nagsabing hindi siya takot na mamuhunan sa bansa sa kabila ng korapsyon na bumabalot sa bansa.
Ang tinutukoy na negosyante ay si Salvador Ahumada, CEO ng ACEIS company, isang international firm na naka-base sa Bangkok, Thailand, na tumututok sa large-scale modernization projects.
Dumalo siya sa APEC CEO Summit sa Gyeongju, South Korea nang magbahagi ng speech ang Pangulo.
”Yeah. Well, if we had not exposed it, then they would be saying that there’s a problem. Now that we have exposed it, their confidence is stronger in the Philippines. Kasi kahit may ganyan, talagang inaayos nila. So that’s why things have changed. The level of confidence in the Philippine economy and in the Philippine government as the leader and the guider of the economy is restored,” ani Marcos.
”All countries have their own problems. But the only problem, especially for investors, is whether or not the government is doing anything about it. If the government were doing anything about it… If the government were doing nothing about it, I would guess he wouldn’t say the same thing,” dagdag pa niya.
Patungkol naman sa investment pledges na nakuha mula sa APEC Summit, ibinahagi ni Marcos ang balita na nakipagkita siya sa mga opisyal ng Samsung Electronics, sa pagsasabing nais ng kompanya na palawakin ng operasyon nila sa Pilipinas.
”They made a commitment of a little over P50 billion to expand. That translates into 3,000 new jobs,” ani Marcos. RNT/JGC
