MANILA, Philippines – Nagbabala ang Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) sa mga komunidad sa paligid ng Bulkang Kanlaon sa posibilidad ng lahar kasabay ng pag-ulan dulot ng Tropical Storm Ada.
Sinabi ng PHIVOLCS na ang mga ulan mula sa bagyong Ada ay maaaring magdulot ng pag-agos ng volcanic sediment, muddy runoff, at siltation sa mga ilog at daluyan sa paligid ng bulkan.
“Prolonged heavy rainfall could generate life-threatening lahars and sediment-laden streamflows on major channels draining the southern, western and eastern slopes of Kanlaon Volcano,” sinabi ng PHIVOLCS.
“Post-eruption lahars can be generated by heavy rainfall eroding loose material from remnant pyroclastic density current deposits of recent explosive eruptions and loose ashfall mostly from recent ash emission events,” dagdag pa.
Maaaring maganap ang non-eruption lahars kung ang matataas na dalisdis ay mag-collapse partikular ang mga nakaranas ng landslide o pinahina ng Tropical Cyclone Tino noong Nobyembre 2025.
Ang mga debris na dadaloy patungo sa ilog ay maaaring magdulot ng mapaminsalang mga pagbaha sa mga komunidad na nasa baba nito.
Maaaring maapektuhan ang mga komunidad sa Bago City, La Carlota City, La Castellana, Moises Padilla at San Carlos City, sa Negros Occidental at Canlaon City, Negros Oriental sa mga sumusunod na ilog na maaapektuhan ng lahar:
