MANILA, Philippines – Umaasa ang Malaysia para sa patuloy na koordinasyon sa pagitan ng gobyerno ng Pilipinas at Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) kasunod ng desisyon ng huli na suspendihin ang decommissioning ng final batch ng combatants nito.
“I hope all parties will continue to work together,” ayon kay Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino sa isang chance interview sa Taguig City nitong Martes, nang hingan siya ng komento ukol sa pinakabagong development sa Bangsamoro peace process.
“This is something that the parties will have to resolve on themselves — we want all parties to come together, that’s the most important part,” dagdag pa niya.
Sa isang memorandum order na may petsang Agosto 16, inatasan ng MILF Chairman Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim ang lahat ng commanders at miyembro nito na huwag magpartisipa sa anumang decommissioning o normalization activities ng gobyerno “without prior written approval” mula sa MILF.
Ang direktiba ay kasunod ng isang Hulyo 19 resolution ng MILF Central Committee na pansamantalang sinuspinde ang implementasyon ng ika-4 at final phase ng decommissioning process.
Sa ilalim ng roadmap ng Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), “the MILF shall undergo a graduated and gradual decommissioning in four phases by percentage — ceremonial in Phase 1; 30 percent in Phase 2; 35 percent in Phase 3; and the remaining MILF forces in Phase 4.”
Samantala, may mahalagang papel ang Malaysia sa peace negotiations sa pagitan ng gobyerno at MILF bilang third-party facilitator, nagbibigay ng conducive environment at venue para sa talakayan, at nagdodokumento ng commitments at agreements. Kris Jose
