MANILA, Philippines- Pinabulaanan ng Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) nitong Biyernes na nag-isyu ito ng memorandum na umano’y nag-aatas sa local government units (LGUs) na agad na ipasara ang Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) pagsapit ng unang linggo ng Agosto.
“Please be informed that this office DID NOT issue said memorandum. Rest assured that Offshore Gaming Licensing Department will keep you posted on developments. Please rely on information received through our official email addresses and personnel only,” giit ni Jessa Fernandez ng Pagcor.
Nakasaad sa pekeng memo na ang LGUs ay “required to end these activities within the first week of August 2024.”
Sa kanyang State of the Nation Address (SONA) noong Hulyo 22, ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang ban sa POGOs, tinatawag na ngayong Internet Gaming Licensees (IGLs), at inatasan ang Pagcor “to wind down and cease [POGO operations] by the end of the year.”
