MANILA, Philippines – Sinusuri na ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ang mga gamit na narekober sa hotel room kung saan tumuloy si dating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral bago ito namatay.
Bagamat hindi na sinabi ng NBI kung ano ang mga ebidensyang nakuha, ang mga gamit na ito ay may kaugnayan umano sa imbestigasyon sa kanyang pagkamatay.
“May ilang pirasong documento that are subject to verification pero sabi ko nga we are the discretion of the court kung paano ididspose yan, kung ano disposition kaya irereturn natin ang search warrant, and eventually, after the return of the search warrant, we will be able to learn from the court kung anong dapat gawin sa mga seized items,” sinabi ni NBI spokesperson Atty. Palmer Mallari.
“I cannot say kung kasama yan o related yan pero ang masasabi ko lang po, kahit papano, may relasyon dun sa iniimbistigahan nating kaso. We did not get a suicide note,” dagdag pa nito.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla na walang foul play sa pagkamatay ni Cabral.
“Pieces of evidence that were gathered say there is suicide, but di pa natin masabi. Let the investigators complete their investigation and compare every piece of evidence, statement, and footage,” ayon naman kay PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Nartatez.
Sinusuri na rin ng NBI ang selfie ni Cabral at ng driver nito, at ang viral dashcam footage na nakuhanan umano ang dating DPWH undersecretary sa gilid ng Kennon Road.
Samantala, kailangan ng panibagong search warrant para makuha ang cellphone ni Cabral.
Magsasagawa ng polygraph test ang NBI kung hindi sila kumbinsido sa pahayag ng drayber ni Cabral.
Nag-isyu na ang Office of the Ombudsman ng subpoena na nag-uutos sa DPWH na ibigay ang lahat ng computer at mga device na inisyu kay Cabral.
Bilang tugon, sinabi ng DPWH na handa silang sumunod sa kautusan ng Ombudsman at ibibigay ang mga dokumento, rekord at mga file nito. RNT/JGC
