MANILA, Philippines – MAINIT na tinanggap ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang dalawang ranking officials ng Department of War ng Estados Unidos, araw ng Lunes, Agosto 10.
Tinanggap ng Pangulo sina Undersecretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby at Assistant Secretary of War for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs John Noh sa isang courtesy call sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang, Lunes ng umaga.
“The courtesy call formed part of the President’s diplomatic engagements focused on strengthening ties with key partners in the Indo-Pacific,” ayon sa kalatas ng Presidential Communications Office.
Ang Pilipinas ang ‘first stop’ nina Colby at Noh sa kanilang Southeast Asia trip kung saan makakapulong ng mga ito ang kanilang counterparts at iba pang senior officials para “advance the Department’s strong bilateral relationships in the region.”
“This trip reaffirms the Department’s commitment to build a durable peace in the region through strength,” ayon sa PCO.
Sa kabilang dako, matatandaang nakapulong ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. si Colby sa sidelines ng kanyang working visit sa New York noong Marso kung saan pinag-usapan ng mga ito ang pagsisikap na pavbilisin ang Philippines–United States defense partnership.
“These include strengthening deterrence in the Indo-Pacific and improving interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the United States military through joint operations such as the BALIKATAN exercise,:” ayon sa PCO. KRIS JOSE
