MANILA, Philippines – Umapela si House Committee on Transportation Senior Vice Chairman at 1-RIDER Partylist Rep Rep.Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez sa Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) at Department of Transportation (DOTr) isama din sa sakop ng taas pamasahe ang motorcycle taxi at delivery riders na apektadong sektor din sa serye ng pagtaas ng presyo ng langis.
Sa kanyang privilege speech pinuna ni Gutierrez na tila nakaligtaan ang mga delivery rider at motorcycle taxi, aniya, pinayagan ang provisional fare increases sa public utility vehicles (PUVs) kabilang ang traditional public utility jeepneys (PUJs), metro at city buses, provincial buses, airport taxis, transport network vehicle services (TNVS) at point-to-point (P2P) services subalit wala sa kanilang hanay.
“Conspicuously and unjustly left out from these relief efforts are our motorcycle taxi riders and our hardworking delivery riders. I dare ask… ‘Bakit?’ pahayag ni Gutierrez.
“This representation believes that hindi dapat mapag-iwanan ang mga motorcycle taxi riders at ang mga delivery riders, These essential workers navigate the same congested roads, bear the same fuel burdens, face identical street risks, and provide critical daily services to millions of Filipinos, particularly in vulnerable sectors. The exclusion is not only unfair but risks pushing these riders into deeper financial distress and potentially disrupting essential services many rely on” paliwanag pa ni Gutierrez.
Hiniling pa ng mambabatas sa LTFRB at DOTR na maisama din sa ayuda ang kanilang hanay at hindi lamang ilimita ito sa mga jeepney drivers.
