MANILA, Philippines- Nakatakdang magpalabas ang National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) ng bago at updated na mapa ng Pilipinas kasunod ng pagsasabatas ng Philippine Maritime Zones Act, ayon sa tagapangasiwa nito noong Biyernes.
Malinaw na tinutukoy ng nasabing panukalang isinabatas nitong Biyernes ang maritime zones ng bansa alinsunod sa UNCLOS, kabilang ang West Philippine Sea.
Inihayag ni NAMRIA Administrator, Undersecretary Peter Tiangco, na naihanda na ng ahensya ang “delineation” ng maritime zones at archipelagic sea lanes. Hinihintay lamang nila ang Implementing Rules and Regulation ng batas upang mabago ang mga ito bago ang pinal na paglalathala.
“‘Yung dati kasi may basis lang sa Treaty of Paris. Binago na natin, in accordance with the provisions of the United Nations Convention of Law of the Sea and of course our Constitution,” wika ni Tiangco.
“As you know this is a very delicate matter ‘yung coming up with the new official Philippine map. So kailangan we should be very careful with this one so right one it is undergoing vetting process from various agencies,” dagdag niya. RNT/SA
