MANILA, Philippines – Umalis na ng bansa ang Filipino-American activist na si Chantal Anicoche, na nawala at kalaunan ay natagpuan sa Occidental Mindoro.
Ito ay kasunod ng “order to leave” na inisyu ng Bureau of Immigration (BI), ayon sa National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) nitong Sabado, Enero 31.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng NTF-ELCAC na ang hakbang ay nagtapos sa paghawak ng pamahalaan ng Pilipinas sa kaso ni Anicoche.
“Her departure from the Philippines reflects the collective determination by concerned agencies that her continued presence in the country was no longer necessary under immigration and security considerations,” pahayag ni NTF-ELCAC Executive Director Undersecretary Ernesto Torres Jr.
Iniulat na nawawala si Anicoche sa Occidental Mindoro noong Bagong Taon matapos umanong maipit sa engkwentro sa pagitan ng mga tropa ng pamahalaan at New People’s Army (NPA).
Nilinaw ng NTF-ELCAC na ang “order to leave” ng BI ay hindi “arbitrary” o political act, ngunit isang “lawful process” batay sa sariling pahayag ni Anicoche sa mga aktibidad nito.
Ayon sa task force, inamin ni Anicoche na bumiyahe siya sa Pilipinas para makipag-ugnayan sa NPA at nanatili sa rebel camp.
Sangkot din siya sa international organizations na bahagi ng Communist Party of the Philippines international political and support network.
“Taken together, these circumstances are clear security and immigration concerns that warranted decisive administrative action,” dagdag ni Torres.
Kasunod ng pag-alis ni Anicoche, sinabi ng NTF-ELCAC na ng mga susunod na engagement sa kanya ay nasa kamay na ng home country at pamilya nito.
“The Philippine government has fully discharged its obligation to handle the matter lawfully, transparently, and humanely,” sinabi ni Torres. RNT/JGC
