MANILA, Philippines – Iniutos ng Office of the Ombudsman sa mga awtoridad sa Benguet na tiyakin ang kustodiya ng cellphone at iba pang gadgets ng dating Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary na si Catalina Cabral matapos siyang matagpuang patay sa tabi ng Bued River matapos ang umano’y pagkahulog.
“The Ombudsman’s office directs the authorities in Benguet to take custody of and preserve the cellphone and other gadgets of former Usec. Cathy Cabral,” ayon kay Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano. “The same is to be turned over to the investigators at the proper time.”
Ayon sa pulisya, bumiyahe si Cabral at ang kanyang driver sa Kennon Road patungong La Union noong Huwebes ng hapon nang hilingin niyang ibaba siya sa isang bahagi ng kalsada. Makalipas ang ilang oras, hindi na siya natagpuan ng driver kaya humingi ng tulong sa pulisya.
Natagpuan si Cabral 20 hanggang 30 metro mula sa highway.
Nagbitiw si Cabral noong Setyembre sa gitna ng mga imbestigasyon ng Kongreso kaugnay ng anomalya sa flood control projects at umano’y kickback ng mga mambabatas at opisyal ng gobyerno.
Kaugnay din siya sa imbestigasyon ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure sa ghost at substandard na flood control projects. Santi Celario
