NAGLAAN ang state workers’ pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) ng P1.5-billion na emergency loans para tulungan ang mga miyembro at pensiyonado nito sa iba’t ibang lalawigan sa Eastern Visayas, mga idineklarang calamity areas dahil sa tumaas na bilang ng kaso ng sakit na dengue.
Sa isang kalatas, sinabi ng GSIS na ang emergency loan program ay mapakikinabangan ng 34,739 miyembro at pensiyonado sa Eastern Visayas.
Ang programa ayon sa GSIS ay naglalayon na magbigay ng agarang financial assistance sa Samar at Leyte (Ormoc City, Maasin City, at Kananga) na maaaring humarap sa hindi inaasahang medical expenses, kawalan ng kita dahil sa sakit, bukod sa iba pa.
“To qualify for the emergency loan, active members must reside or work in calamity-declared areas, not on leave without pay, have no pending administrative or legal cases, no due and demandable loan, and made at least six monthly premium payments prior to applying,” ang sinabi ng GSIS.
“Their net take-home pay must not be less than P5,000 as stipulated by the General Appropriations Act,” dagdag na pahayag ng GSIS.
Para sa mga matatanda at disability pensioners, para maging kuwalipikado, dapat ay mayroon silang 25% na natitira mula sa kanilang pensiyon matapos kaltasin ang para sa loan amortization.
“Members and pensioners with an existing emergency loan balance may borrow up to P40,000 to settle their previous loans, with a maximum net amount of P20,000,” ang sinabi ng GSIS.
Samantala, iyong mga wala naman ‘existing balances’ ayon sa GSIS ay maaaring mag-apply para sa P20,000-loan.
Ang emergency loan ay mayroong interest rate na 6% bawat taon, mayroong repayment period ng tatlong taon.
“Qualified members and pensioners can apply for the loan online through the GSIS Touch mobile app,” ayon sa GSIS.
“They may also submit their applications through the GSIS Wireless Automated Processing System (GWAPS) kiosks located in GSIS branches nationwide, major government offices such as the Department of Education, provincial capitols, city halls, municipal offices, and select Robinson’s and SM malls,” ang sinabi pa rin ng GSIS.
