MANILA, Philippines- Matatanggap ng may 900,000 guro sa ilalim ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang P1,000 World Teachers’ Day Incentive Benefit (WTDIB) sa October 5, ayon kay Quezon City Rep. Marvin Rillo.
Ayon kay Rillo, sa ilalim ng 2023 General Appropriations Law ay inaprubahan ng Kongreso ang P900 million na pondo para sa WTDIB o P1,000 kada guro.
“We, in Congress, are totally committed to provide the annual appropriations required to pay for the WTDIB of our teachers. In fact, in the 2024 national budget that the House approved last week, we’ve set aside another P912 million to pay for the WTDIB of our teachers next year,” pahayag ni Rillo na miyembro ng House Appropriations Commitee.
Matatandaan na may apat na taon na mula nang mabigyan ng WTDIB ang mga guro nang pondohan ito sa ilalim ng 2019 budget.
Ang World Teachers’ Day ay international day na idineklara ng United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) na ipinagdiriwang tuwing October 5.
Samantala, umapela naman si Rillo sa Kamara na maisabatas ang House Bill (HB) No. 203 na nagsusulong na itaas ng 36% ang sahod ng mga public school teachers.
Sa ilalim ng panukala, ang entry-level sa mga public school teachers ay itataas sa P36,619 (Salary Grade 15) mula sa kasalukuyang P27,000 (Salary Grade 11).
Kasama rin sa isinusulong na taasan ay ang sahod ng mga non-teaching personnel na kinukuha ng DepEd sa P16,000 minimum monthly pay. Gail Mendoza
