MANILA, Philippines- Pinabulaanan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) nitong Martes ang mga ulat na ilang heneral umano ang nag-“walk out” sa isang command conference, at tinawag itong “fake news.”
Sa isang press briefing, sinabi ni AFP spokesperson Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla na dumalo siya sa pulong at natapos ito nang maayos.
“With regards to your question kanina about the walkout incident, if you are referring to the command conference, that’s fake news. I was there personally,” wika ng opisyal.
“There is nothing of that sort that happened. It was a very professional exchange of ideas and discussions and there were also a lot of updates that were given. It all ended on a positive note,” dagdag niya.
Noong Hulyo 4, pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang command conference ng AFP sa Camp Aguinaldo sa Quezon City.
Inatasan ni Marcos ang AFP na pahupain ang tensyon sa China sa West Philippine Sea, base kay AFP chief General Romeo Brawner Jr.
“The guidance also of our President to our troops is not to escalate the situation on the ground or the seas,” ani Brawner.
Dagdag ni Brawner, inihayag ni Marcos ang pasasalamat sa mga sundalong Pilipino na kanilang pagpipigil sa ilalim ng kautusang depensahan ang soberanya at interes ng bansa sa West Philippine Sea, na inaangkin ng China sa kabila ng arbitral award pabor sa Pilipinas noong 2016. RNT/SA
