MANILA, Philippines – Walang pagsubok o problema ang makasisira sa pagkakaisa ng pwersa ng pulisya, ayon kay Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III.
Ang pahayag na ito ni Torre ay ilang araw matapos ipag-utos ng National Police Commission (Napolcom) na bawiin niya ang kanyang reassignment sa ilang mga opisyal, bagamat hindi nito direktang tinukoy ang naturang direktiba sa kanyang speech sa flag ceremony sa Camp Crame nitong Lunes, Agosto 18.
“The PNP is united. No order, no obstacle, and no challenge can destroy our unity and our commitment to the nation,” ani Torre.
“As we salute our flag today, let us remember that our service is not for ourselves but for the Filipino people,” dagdag pa niya.
Noong Agosto 14, nag-isyu ang Napolcom ng Resolution 2025-0531, na nag-aatas sa PNP na ibalik si Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. bilang deputy chief for administration at kay Lt. Gen. Bernard Banac bilang Area Police Command (APC) Western Mindanao commander.
Binaliktad ng direktiba ang kautusan noong Agosto 6 mula kay Torre na nagtatalaga kay Nartatez bilang APC Western Mindanao commander at Banac bilang deputy chief for administration, ang ikalawang pinakamataas na posisyon sa PNP.
Bilang tugon, 18 hepe mula sa regional offices ng PNP ang nagpahayag ng suporta kay Torre sa isang manifesto.
“We affirm our commitment to uphold the chain of command, respect the single line of authority, and obey all lawful orders of our superiors in the faithful discharge of our sworn duties and responsibilities as members of the PNP,” saad sa manifesto. RNT/JGC
