MANILA, Philippines- Matagumpay na nahatid ang BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles sa Pilipinas.
Ayon sa ulat nitong Sabado, sinabi ng Indian news outlet na inanunsyo mismo ni Prime Minister Narendra Modi ang delivery sa election rally.
Batay sa ulat, naihatid ang missile system sa Philippine Marine Corps nitong Biyernes, habang naipadala naman ang ground system noong nakaraang buwan.
Bagama’t tumanggi ang National Security Council at ang Armed Forces of the Philippines na kumpirmahin ang delivery, iginiit ni NSC Assistant Director General Jonathan Malaya na “game changer” ang pagbili ng nasabing missiles sa pagpapalakas ng coastal defenses ng bansa.
“It’s maximum extent in terms of range exceeds the West Philippine Sea. This actually means that if makakita tayo ng pumapasok sa teritoryo natin and threat siya, the BrahMos missile can hit that target the moment it enters our exclusive economic zone,” pahayag ni Malaya, at sinabing sinasanay sa India ang mga sundalong Pilipino hinggil sa pangangasiwa ng missile system.
Nilinaw din niyang hindi naghahanda para sa giyera ang bansa.
”We are not preparing for war. This is more of a deterrent because we now have several batteries for this BrahMos cruise missile, which is going to be deployed to the Philippine Marines,” giit ng opisyal.
Noong Enero 2022, lumagda ang Duterte administration, sa pamamagitan ni dating Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, sa isang kontrata upang bumili ng shore-based anti-ship missile system na nagkakahalaga ng P18.9 bilyon. Kris Jose
