MANILA, Philippines – Walang epekto sa legislative agenda ng 20th Congress ang pagpapalit ng liderato sa Senado.
Sa isang panayam kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., sa Phnom Penh, Cambodia, tinanong ang Chief Executive kung ano ang kanyang masasabi sa pagbabalik ni Senator Vicente Sotto III bilang Senate President at magiging epekto nito sa legislative agenda ng kanyang administrasyon.
“Well, that remains to be seen. But I do not actually see any problem in terms of the legislative agenda that the executive and the legislature have agreed to undertake for the next Congress,” anito.
“And if Senator Sotto is now the SP [Senate Speaker] again, then I do not see that it will change very much from the agenda that we had agreed upon when Senator Chiz was SP,” ang sinabi pa rin ng Pangulo.
Umupo si Sotto bilang Senate President matapos makakuha ng suporta ng mayorya ng 24-member Senate.
Sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos, nagsilbi bilang senador mula 2010 hanggang 2016, na ang Senate reorganization ay isang internal matter sa hanay ng mga senador.
“Alam naman ninyo na mayroong talagang galaw that has been going on for the last…at least a month na—that would bring us to this change of leadership,” ang inihayag ni Pangulong Marcos. (KRIS JOSE)
