MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla nitong Martes na isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit na-relieve si Police General Nicolas Torre III bilang hepe ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ay ang kanyang pagsuway sa utos ng National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) sa reassignment ng mga pangunahing opisyal.
Sa isang press conference, tinanong si Remulla kung ang relief ni Torre ay konektado sa umano’y kabiguan ng dating PNP chief na sundin ang direktiba ng NAPOLCOM na binabaligtad ang utos ng ex-top cop sa reshuffle ng matataas na opisyal ng pulisya.
“That, among other things, is part of the consideration of the President,” ani Remulla.
Ayon kay Remulla inalis ni President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. si Torre bilang PNP chief “to uphold the role of NAPOLCOM as it was intended by law.”
“The Palace affirms that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has made the difficult but necessary decision to relieve PNP Chief PGen Nicolas Torre III of his duties. The President believes that his national security apparatus must always work within the framework of the law,” aniya.
“With the recent developments, the President was presented with the facts and he determined that the best course of action is to uphold the role of NAPOLCOM as it was intended by law. As part of this resolution, the President decided to relieve Police Gen. Torre,” dagdag niya. RNT/MND
