MANILA, Philippines – Inirekomenda ng Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) nitong Biyernes, Nobyembre 22 ang pagsibak sa pwesto ng police general kaugnay sa police operation sa Paranaque City noong Setyembre 2023.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng PNP-IAS na ang naturang opisyal, ay inirekomendang alisin sa serbisyo dahil sa command responsibility at gross neglect of duty.
“The IAS has concluded its investigation into the controversial police operation conducted in September 2023, recommending the dismissal of a police general under the principle of command responsibility and gross neglect of duty.”
“This decision underscores the PNP’s unwavering commitment to accountability and integrity within its ranks,” dagdag pa.
Ayon sa PNP-IAS, nag-ugat ang administrative case mula sa isang raid sa condominium sa Paranaque kung saan nagsilbi ng search warrant ang Southern Police District (SPD) kaugnay sa mga reklamong illegal possession of firearms.
Sa ulat ng SPD, nagresulta ang raid sa pagkakaaresto sa 10 Chinese at Filipino, pagsagip sa mga Chinese national, at pagkakakumpiska ng P4.6 milyong cash.
“However, the [National Capital Region Police Office] said there were alleged irregularities in the service of the search warrants after the arrested Chinese nationals complained about being arbitrarily detained and claimed that personal belongings not included in the warrant were illegally confiscated by the police,” ayon sa PNP-IAS.
“Subsequent investigations revealed that the involved officers confiscated P27 million in cash that was not a subject of the search warrant and deliberately excluded a sizeable amount of cash and other personal items from the official inventory of recovered evidence,” dagdag pa.
Bukod dito, sinabi ng PNP-IAS na napag-alaman na nagtanim ng mga armas sa lugar ang ilang pulis, sinubukan din sirain ang CCTV recordings, at nag-deactivate ng body-worn cameras kasabay ng operasyon.
Nauna nang sinibak sa serbisyo ang 10 pulis na napag-alamang guilty sa grave misconduct, grave irregularity sa performance of duty, grave neglect of duty, conduct unbecoming of a police officer, less grave misconduct, at less grave neglect of duty.
Bukod dito, pito iba pang pulis ang na-demote habang 17 ang nasuspinde. RNT/JGC
