MANILA, Philippines- Namayagpag ang botong “no” sa October 30 plebiscite para sa paglilipat sa San Jose del Monte, Bulacan bilang highly urbanized city, ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) nitong Miyerkules.
Batay sa certificate of canvass of votes na inilabas ng Comelec, may kabuuang 820,385 ang bumoto ng “no” habang 620,707 naman ang bumoto ng “yes.”
“Certificate of canvass of votes and proclamation na po siya,” ani Comelec chairperson George Garcia.
Sa 2,092,248 registered voters sa San Jose del Monte, 1,608,004 lamang ang bumoto, base sa certificate.
Itinakda ng Comelec ang plebisito para sa paglilipat ng SJDM sa isang highly urbanized city noong October 30, kasabay ng Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
Sa two-page manifesto, 23 Bulacan city at municipal mayors ang matatandaang naghayag ng suporta para sa pagtatalaga sa San Jose del Monte bilang highly urbanized city.
Binanggit nila ang Section 452 ng Republic Act No. 7160 o ang Local Government Code of 1991, kung saan nakasaad “that the cities with a minimum population of 200,000 inhabitants as certified by the Philippine Statistics Authority, and with the latest annual income of at least 50 million based on 1992 constant prices, as certified by the Treasurer, shall be classified as highly-urbanized cities.” RNT/SA
