MANILA, Philippines- Suportado ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Paleng-QR Ph Plus Initiative at nais na turuan ng mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan ang mga filipino sa paggamit ng e-wallet at iba pang digital payment apps.
Layon nito na tukuran o alalayan ang economic activities, partikular na ang pagsama ng micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Nasabi ng Pangulo ang pananaw niyang ito sa isang pulong sa Palasyo ng Malakanyang kasama ang Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) Digital Infrastructure Cluster kung saan pinag-usapan ang rekomendasyon kung paano paghuhusayin ang digital infrastructure ng bansa.
Inilarawan naman ni PSAC Member Ernest Cu, pangulo at CEO ng Globe Telecom, nakipagpulong sa Pangulo ang paggamit ng quick response (QR) codes at iba pang digital payment apps bilang “home run” para sa gobyerno, sabay sabing “excited” silang simulan ang pagsisilbi sa public markets gamit ang QR codes.
Dumalo rin sa pulong si PSAC Convenor Sabin Aboitiz, presidente at CEO ng Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., kasama sina Union Digital President at CEO Henry Rhoel Aguda, Bank of the Philippines Islands COO Ramon Jocson at PLDT Inc. presidente at CEO na si Alfredo Panlilio.
Ang e-commerce platforms kasama ang Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) ay mayroong mga team na umiikot sa bansa para magsagawa ng information at education campaigns ukol sa Paleng-QR Ph Plus, inilunsad noong 2022, sa iba’t ibang lungsod at local government units (LGUs).
“We have to do it. It’s a grassroots level approach. There are also videos on YouTube and we also have Tiktok to get people to educate themselves. And if you use the app regularly, you will see it being offered to you on the app,” ayon kay Cu sabay sabing ang bansa ay mayroong “very high technology adoption rate.”
“The adoption of QR codes and use of digital payment apps will make savings and loan applications in banks a lot easier for the public, especially the farmers, fisherfolks and small businesses,” ayon sa mga miyembro ng PSAC.
Kasabay nito, maaaring alisin ng pamahalaan ang 5-6 lending at kahalintulad na money lending businesses upang sa gayon ay magawang ibaba ang iginugugol na pondo tumatakbong MSMEs, sinasabing “main drivers” ng ekonomiya.
Nagpahayag naman ng pagsuporta si BSP Governor Felipe Medalla sa nasabing proyekto sabay sabing “Mr. President, this one has a big impact on financial inclusion because the problem is there’s no way for banks to assess their credit scores, but if we have a digital database with their payment habits, that will be a substitute and a good proxy for credit scoring.This actually helps in the financial inclusion advocacy of the BSP and the government.”
Maliban sa pagsuporta para sa Paleng-QR Ph Plus Initiative, gumawa naman ng bagong rekumendasyon ang PSAC para aprubahan ng Pangulo.
Kabilang sa mga bagong rekumendasyon ang adopsyon ng National Cybersecurity Plan (NCSP) 2023-2028 at ang Connectivity Index Rating System. Kris Jose
