MANILA, Philippines- Hindi ikinatuwa ng anak ni dating Senator Gil Puyat ang marketing campaign kung saan binago ang pangalan ng Gil Puyat Avenue sa Makati sa “Gil Tulog Avenue.”
Nagreklamo si Victor Puyat, anak ng dating mambabatas, sa Ad Standards Council hinggil sa sangkot na ad agency.
Inihirit ng pamilya Puyat ang suspensyon o pagtanggal sa agency mula sa konseho.
“This is a total disrespect to my father, Sen. Gil J. Puyat and to our family. The marketing campaign does not conform with Ad Standards Council’s Code of Ethics,” ani Puyat sa liham na isinapubliko niya.
Ikinagulat ng netizens sa social media ang mga larawan at video ng Gil Puyat street signs na binago sa Gil Tulog nitong linggo.
Isa itong marketing gimmick ng kompanya na nag-aalok ng health supplements at partner advertising agency nito.
“It is foolish and insulting at the same time, but most of all I felt bad people can now do anything in total disrespect for somebody who has served the country so well,” giit ni Puyat.
“Gil Puyat until now is still being called Buendia. Please let’s get MMDA to do the right thing,” aniya pa.
Humingi naman ang Wellspring, ang kompanya sa likod ng ad, sa pamilya Puyat para sa anito’y “misstep in our campaign.”
“We recognize and deeply regret the insensitivity of our execution and we offer our sincerest apologies to the Puyat family, the Makati City government, and the public. We have learned from this mistake and are committed to doing better,” pahayag ng ad agency.
Gayundin, humingi ng dispensa si Makati Mayor Abby Binay sa pamilya Puyat, at sinabing hindi dumaan sa kanyang opisina ang request para sa permit, iginiit pang hindi ito makalulusot sa kanya kung nakita niya ito.
“Dapat inisip ang kaguluhan na maaaring idulot sa mga motorista at komyuter. At dapat ay binigyang halaga ang respeto sa pamilya at sa alaala ni dating Senate President Gil Puyat. I have already reprimanded these officials for this glaring oversight,” pahayag ni Binay.
Ang pumanaw na si dating Senator Gil Puyat ang huling Senate President bago tanggalin ng Martial Law ang Senado at Kamara. Pumanaw siya noong 1980. RNT/SA
