MANILA, Philippines- Nangako ang national government na dudurugin ang New People’s Army (NPA), ang armed component ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), sa loob ng termino ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. kahit pa nagbitiw sa posisyon si Vice President Sara Duterte bilang co-vice chair ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC).
Binigyang-diin ni National Security Adviser (NSA) Eduardo Año ang kahalagahan ng NTF-ELCAC, anti-Red unit ng gobyerno.
“The NTF-ELCAC continues to achieve significant and laudable milestones from the very beginning. Under the Marcos administration, we will carry on with these achievements and we will make sure that during his administration, we will be able to completely crush these peace-spoilers,” ayon kay Año, tumatayong NTF-ELCAC vice chairman ngayon.
Si Pangulong Marcos ang tumatayong chairman ng NTF-ELCAC, nilikha ng Executive Order No. 70 noong 2018, habang si VP Sara ang co-vice chair ni Año.
Gayunman, nagbitiw si VP Sara mula sa kanyang posisyon bilang Education Secretary at co-vice chairperson ng NTF-ELCAC noong nakaraang buwan. Nakatakda itong maging epektibo sa Hulyo 19.
Sinabi pa ni Año na maraming nagawang mga hakbang ang NTF-ELCAC sa anti-communist campaign sa nakalipas na mga buwan, katuwang si VP Sara na mapigilan ang umano’y recruitment ng mga batang mag-aaral sa komunistang grupo.
Sa report nito, isiniwalat ng NTF-ELCAC’s Peace, Law Enforcement, and Development Support (PLEDS) Cluster na bumaba ang lakas ng NPA sa 1,251 fighters sa buong bansa.
Tinuran pa ni Año na matapos ang mahigit sa limang taon ng agresibong implementasyon ng multi-pronged political at socio-economic programs at strategies nito, naging matagumpay ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) sa pagsira sa politico-military component ng lahat ng 89 active NPA guerrilla fronts simula 2018.
“Notably, in the last two quarters, four CTG (communist terrorist group) units have been dismantled. We’re also on the verge of completely dismantling the remaining seven weakened guerilla fronts (GFs). We expect that the remaining GFs will be dismantled within the year or the next,” dagdag na wika nito.
“Since EO70 was established, a total of 44,528 CTG personalities have surrendered to the government, according to the NTF-ELCAC.
The figure includes the neutralization of 37 “key leaders” this semester alone,” ang pahayag pa ni Año.
Samantala, may kabuuang 7,587 firearms ng iba’t ibang mataas at mababang kalibre ang isinuko sa gobyerno.
