MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na mas magiging madali para kay Vice President Sara Z. Duterte kung haharapin nito ang Senate impeachment court para sagutin ang mga alegasyon na ibinabato laban sa kanya.
Ayon sa Pangulo, kung siya aniya si VP Sara ay pipilitin niyang dumalo sa impeachment trial.
“Of course, it would be much easier to get to the bottom of everything if you can speak to the accused directly, if the accused can answer directly, not through secondary channels, not through the lawyers,” ang winika ng Pangulo.
“But that’s just my own opinion. It’s not a legal opinion. I’m just trying to put myself in that position. I would probably, myself, if it was me being accused, I would almost insist over the advice of lawyers, if they advise me not to appear, I would insist on appearing,” aniya pa rin.
Nauna rito, naglabas na ng direktiba ang Senate Impeachment Court para paharapin sa impeachment trial si VP Duterte na gaganapin, araw ng Lunes, Hulyo 6, ganap na alas-2:00 ng hapon.
Ang inilabas na kautusan ng Senate Impeachment Court ay may petsang July 2, 2026 na nilagdaan ni Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian.
Personal na pinadadalo ng impeachment court si VP Sara o kaya naman ay sa pamamagitan ng legal counsel nito para sa gagawing paglilitis sa apat na articles of impeachment na inihain laban sa kanya ng Kamara.
Ang notice ay inilagay sa website ng Senado na nagpapakita na ang abiso ay natanggap ng law firm na Fortun, Narvasa & Salazar.
Naglabas din ang Senate impeachment court ng abiso noong Huwebes sa House of Representatives na nagsasabing handa na ang Senado na ituloy ang paglilitis sa impeachment ni Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte sa Session Hall ng Senado ng Pilipinas sa Hulyo 6 sa ganap na alas-2:00 ng hapon.
Ang abiso ay nilagdaan ng Senate Secretary at impeachment clerk of court na si Atty. Renato Bantug Jr., at natanggap ng House of Representatives Impeachment Secretariat.
Sinabi naman ni Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro na makabubuting gamitin ni VP Sara ang impeachment trial bilang oportunidad para linisin ang kanyang pangalan. (KRIS JOSE)
