PBBM lumikha ng special economic zone sa Victoria, Tarlac

MANILA, Philippines- Ipinag-utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang paglikha at paghirang ng ilang bahagi ng lupaing matatagpuan sa Barangay Baculong sa Victoria, Tarlac bilang isang special economic zone.

Batay sa Proclamation No. 623 na tinintahan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin noong Hulyo 4, ang 297,719-square meter property ay kikilalanin bilang Victoria Industrial Park.

Ang hakbang na ito ng Pangulo ay alinsunod sa Republic Act No. 7916 o Special Economic Zone Act of 1995, na inamyendahan ng RA No. 8748, at rekomendasyon ng Board of Directors ng Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

Ang Special economic zones ay tinutukoy bilang “selected areas with highly developed or which have the potential to be developed into agro-industrial, industrial, tourist/recreational, commercial, banking, investment and financial centers.”

Ang  zones o sona ay sumasaklaw sa industrial estates, export processing zones, free trade zones, o tourist o recreational centers.

Ang mga lugar ay maaaring itatag bilang ecozones sa pamamagitan ng proklamasyon na ipalalabas ng Pangulo at isasailalim sa ebalwasyon at rekomendasyon ng PEZA “based on a detailed feasibility and engineering study.”

Nauna rito, binigyang-diin ni Pangulong Marcos ang kahandaan ng Philippine economic zones upang mapaunlad ang mga negosyo sa bansa, ang mga nasabing ‘designated development sites’ ay bukas sa lahat ng foreign investors.

“It is the PEZA that extends assistance, registers, and grants incentives to investors. The agency also facilitates the business operations of investors in export-oriented manufacturing and service facilities inside selected areas throughout the country that were proclaimed as special ecozones,” ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO). Kris Jose
