MANILA, Philippines – Hinikayat ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) na maghanda para sa Severe Tropical Storm Uwan (international name Fung-wong) at tiyakin na protektado ang mga filipino at naka-secure ang baybayin ng Pilipinas.
Ginawa ng Pangulo ang panawagan habang kinikilala ang mahalagang papel ng PMC sa disaster response efforts ng bansa.
“We saw this in your swift disaster response operations in Palawan, following the recent typhoon, Typhoon Tino,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa 75th anniversary celebration ng PMC sa V. Almario Avenue sa Parañaque City.
“Thus, we will once again rely on your readiness, your discipline, and your heart for service, as we brace for the upcoming weather and the typhoons. Help us secure our coast. Protect our people. Rebuild our communities,” aniya pa rin.
Winika pa ng Pangulo na inilagay niya sa ilalim ng state of national calamity ang bansa para magamit ang lahat ng government resources at tiyakin ang agarang relief and recovery ng mga indibiduwal na apektado ng kamakailan lamang na pagbagyo, kabilang na ang Bagyong Tino na nagdala ng matinding pinsala sa Visayas.
Nagbabala naman ang Pangulo na ang Severe Tropical Storm Uwan “potentially stronger” kaysa sa Typhoon Tino.
“Courage is your heartbeat. When others hesitate, you step forward. You are among the first to fight. You are the last to rest,” ayon sa Pangulo sabay sabing “Despite the danger that shadows your mission, you gallantly step forward, fully aware of the risks that you face. You never falter.”
Tiniyak naman ni Pangulong Marcos sa PMC na patuloy ang pagsisikap ng administrasyon na gawing modernisado ang kakayahan ng mga Marine.
Aniya, mamumuhunan ang gobyerno sa pagtatatag ng strategic bases, revitalizing self-reliant defense posture program, at pagpapalakas sa ‘maritime domain awareness.’
“Bravery alone cannot meet the challenges of this modern room. A marine who answers a call must never face tomorrow with yesterday’s tools. And therefore, under my watch, we will continue to provide you the means to match the mandate that you bear,” ang tinuran pa ng Pangulo. (KRIS JOSE)
