MANILA, Philippines – Ayon kay Rep. Edgar Erice, Senior House Deputy Minority Leader, may ilang kongresista na nagbabalak magsampa ng impeachment laban kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. para sa “betrayal of public trust” at iba pang dahilan.
“May mga kongresista na nagbabalak magsampa ng impeachment complaint laban kay President Marcos. Thus, may dalawang developments na dapat nating bantayan,” sabi ni Erice, na nag-ugat sa umano’y budget insertions at anomalya sa 2023–2025 budget na kinasasangkutan ng mga Cabinet members at kaalyado ng Pangulo.
“It can be considered a gross inexcusable negligence which is one of the grounds for public trust,” dagdag niya
Gayunpaman, ilang mambabatas at Malacañang ay nagsabing dapat may matibay na ebidensya at facts bago magsampa ng impeachment.
“Any impeachment complaint must be supported by clear facts and solid proof… It should never be used as a political tool,” ayon kay Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong.
Sinabi rin ni Palace press officer Claire Castro: “[The President] respects the existing constitutional processes… The administration will not speculate on rumors or political maneuverings.”
Kung magsampa ng impeachment complaint, ito ay rerepasuhin ng House committee on justice bago maipasa sa Senado para sa impeachment trial. RNT/MND
