APRUBADO ni Vice President Sara Duterte ang ‘personal trip’ ng kanyang chief of staff na si Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez at pagbabalik sa kalagitnaan ng Nobyembre.
Ayon sa Office of the Vice President (OVP), ang pagbyahe ni Lopez sa ibang bansa ay mula November 4 hanggang 16, 2024.
“The OVP Chief of Staff’s travel was personal and unrelated to her employment with the OVP. Usec. Lopez appropriately submitted documents required of traveling government officials, which were approved by the Vice President,” ang sinabi ng OVP.
Araw ng Martes, sinabi ng House good government and public accountability committee na nakatanggap ito ng mga record mula sa Bureau of Immigration na nagpapakita na si Lopez ay umabot sa immigration gates ng 7:31 p.m., nito lamang November 4. Isa si Lopez sa mga pasahero ng Philippine Airlines flight PR 102, patungong Los Angeles.
Nauna rito, nagpalabas ang House panel ng subpoena ad testificandum kay Lopez at anim na iba pang opisyal ng OVP para sa pagtanggi na dumalo sa imbestigasyon kung paano ginamit ng OVP ang budget nito kabilang na ang confidential funds.
Hindi kasi dumalo ang pitong OVP officials, kabilang na si Lopez sa isinagawang pagdinig ng komite, araw ng Martes, dahilan para magpalabas ng subpoena ang komite sa grupo para sa huling pagkakataon.
Sinasaving, kapag muling tumanggi ang mga ito na dumalo sa imbestigasyon, isa-cite in contempt ang pitong opisyal ng OVP na mayroong corresponding detention order.
Samantala, pinalagan naman ng OVP ang pagkakaturing sa personal trip ni Lopez bilang “unfounded and unnecessary.”
“Speculations about the purpose of this travel are unfounded and unnecessary. We request to respect the privacy of the family on this difficult time,” ang sinabi ng OVP. Kris Jose
