MANILA, Philippines- Sinabi ni Philippine Army (PA) commander Lt. Gen. Roy Galido na may kahaharapin at tutugunan na bagong security challenges ang PA.
Sa kanyang mensahe sa idinaos na 128th founding anniversary ng PA, sinabi ni Galido na ang Army, nakatuon noon sa internal security, ay nakapokus ngayon sa territorial defense, sabay sabing nahaharap ngayon sa external threats ang bansa.
“We come together to celebrate 128 years of bravery, sacrifice, and undaunted service of the PA. Throughout history, our Army has been the backbone of our nation’s security, evolving to meet new challenges,” ang sinabi nito sa nasabing pagdiriwang na idinaos sa Fort Bonifacio sa Taguig City.
Sabi pa ni Galido, nakatuon ngayon ang PA sa isang game-changing mission na magbibigay katiyakan sa mas malakas, mas may kakayahan at future-ready force.
“For decades, the Army has significantly contributed to the decline of the communist and local terrorist groups, ensuring peace and stability within our borders. As threat evolves, so must we. Our focus now is on territorial defense, protecting our lands, coastline, and sovereignty,” ang sinabi ni Galido.
Ang pagbabagong ito ayon kay Galido ay nakahanay sa Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Concept (CADC), na magbibigay kasiguruhan na ang PA ay patuloy na gumagana at kumikilos kasama ang Navy at Air Force para ipagtanggol ang malawak na national territory ng Pilipinas.
Ang papel aniya ng PA ay protektahan ang ‘land domain’ habang sinusuportahan ang ‘coastal at littoral operations.’
“To meet this challenge, we have reconfigured our forces in ways that make us more agile and effective. The creation of Combat Engineer Regiment ensures protection of key strategic locations, fortifying our bases and securing mobility corridors,” wika ng opisyal.
Winika pa ni Galido na pinalakas ang PA reserve forces sa pamamagitan ng muling pagtukoy sa kanilang papel sa internal at external security operations, binigyang-diin ang bagong tungkulin ng community defense centers at regional community defense groups.
“Recognizing the need for accuracy and real-time battlefield awareness, we have upgraded our reconnaissance capabilities, ensuring our troops are always prepared to respond with precision and efficiency. Our infantry battalions have been restructured, making them lighter, more mobile, and more strategically positioned to defend the nation’s interests,” ang litaniya ni Galido. Kris Jose
