MANILA, Philippines – Hinamon ni Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson ang Philippine Construction Accreditation Board (PCAB) na umaksiyon sa alegasyon ng “accreditation for sale” sa mga proyektong pang-impraestruktura, at hindi lamang basta mag-deny.
Ayon kay Lacson, dapat ipaliwanag ng PCAB kung paano nabibigyan ng accreditation ang ilang contractor matapos umanong magbayad ng hindi bababa sa ₱2 milyon. “Instead of merely denying reports… PCAB leadership should look at their own people and police their ranks,” aniya.
“PCAB licenses are not for sale. The Board has not authorized any individual, group, or third-party consultant to act on its behalf or to guarantee contractor accreditation in exchange for money, ayon sa pahayag ng PCAB.
“Unfortunately, we are aware of the challenges presented by the existence of certain individuals and entities, particularly on social media, misrepresenting themselves as PCAB personnel or offering “shortcuts” for a fee. PCAB has been proactive in
addressing this issue—conducting investigations, reporting fake social media accounts, and coordinating with the proper authorities to protect the public and the industry,” dagdag nito.
“We encourage contractors and the public to remain vigilant and to deal only through PCAB’s official channels (website/portal). Any suspicious offers or misrepresentations should be reported to the Board so that appropriate action may be taken.”
Binigyang-diin din niya na may mga contractor na may kaso at maging ang may Single A accreditation ay pinapayagang makakuha ng malalaking proyekto. Itinuro naman ni Senate Minority Leader Vicente Sotto III na isang contractor na sangkot sa ghost project sa Bulacan ay muling na-renew ang lisensya hanggang 2027.
Giit ng PCAB, scammers ang nasa likod ng mga alok online, ngunit ayon kay Lacson, dapat makipag-ugnayan ang ahensiya sa mga tulad ng SEC upang maiwasan ang sabwatan sa mga substandard at ghost projects. “There should be check and balance instead of collusion,” aniya. RNT
