MANILA, Philippines- Nagbabala ang Philippine National Police (PNP) nitong Martes sa netizens laban sa pagbibigay ng personal na impormasyon online at pag-click sa malicious website links.
Ito ay matapos makapagtala ng PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) ng 178 kaso ng “hijack profile” o identity theft cases mula November 2023 hanggang February 2024 – 89 sa mga ito o 50 porsyento ang naitala sa loob lamang ng Pebrero.
Sa “hijack profile scam,” nagkakaroon ng unauthorized access sa partikular na social media account.
Kapag napasok na ang account, nagpapadala ng mensahe ang hacker sa contacts ng account owner, na karaniwang humihingi ng financial assistance sa ilalim ng pagpapanggap.
Gumagamit ang scammer ng iba’t ibang istratehiya upang mabuksan ang profile, tulad ng phishing, hacking o social engineering techniques, na labag sa Section 4 (a) (1) Illegal Access, (b) (2) Computer-related Fraud, at (3) Computer-related Identity Theft ng Republic Act 10175 o Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Ayon kay ACG chief Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia, kailangang gumamit ng netizens ng strong at unique passwords para sa online accounts, gumamit ng multi-factor authentication, mag-ingat sa pag-click sa links o pag-download ng attachments mula sa unknown sources, at regular na i-monitor ang kanilang online accounts para sa anumang kahina-hinalang aktibidad.
“If you suspect that your profile has been hijacked, immediately report it to the platform or service provider, take steps to secure your account, and notify relevant authorities to avoid potential legal liabilities that may arise from unauthorized access or misuse of your online identity,” pahayag ng opisyal.
Ani Hernia, iwasan din ng netizens ang pagbabahagi ng personal na impormasyon online at hanapin ang “https://” sa URL kapag naglalagay ng sensitibong impormasyon sa mga website.
