MANILA, Philippines – PUMASOK ang Pilipinas sa bilateral regionalization agreement kasama ang Warsaw para sa African swine fever (ASF), isang hakbang na inaasahan na makatutulong na mapanatili at patatagin ang pork trade at retail prices.
Sinabi ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na ang kasunduan ay naglalayong pahintulutan ang Pilipinas na umangkat ng swine products at by-products sa ASF-free areas sa Poland kahit may mga kaso na nagaganap.
Kasunod ng kasunduan, binawi ng ahensiya ang import ban sa pag-angkat ng swine products at by-products, base sa Memorandum Order No. 1, may petsang Jan. 14.
Ito ang kauna-unahang regionalization agreement ng DA na nilagdaan ngayong taon.
Welcome naman para sa Industry groups Meat Importers and Traders Association (Mita) at Philippine Association of Meat Processors Inc. (Pampi) ang nasabing development. nagbibigay kasi ito ng alternatibong meat sources.
“It is good to add new countries as suppliers. Poland has great potential,” ayon kay Mita president emeritus Jesus Cham sa Viber message sabay sabing “We hope that the Philippines may reach a similar agreement with Spain soonest.”
“This will definitely ensure the ample supply of pork in our local market ensuring not only supply/availability but also price stability,” ang sinabi naman ni Pampi director Jet Ambalada sa hiwalay na mensahe.
Kapuwa naman sinabi nina Cham at Ambalada na nag-alok ang Poland ng mas competitive prices kaysa sa ibang exporting countries. Kris Jose
