PPP deal para sa NAIA rehab pirmado na

MANILA, Philippines- Nilagdaan na nitong Lunes ang public-private partnership (PPP) agreement para sa rehabilitasyon ng Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Isinagawa ang signing ceremony sa Malacañan Palace na sinaksihan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. kasama ang iba pang government officials na sina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri,  Speaker Martin Romualdez, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, at Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eric Jose Ines; at San Miguel Corp. (SMC) president Ramon S. Ang.

Ani Marcos: “The reputation of this airport has been shredded, and let’s be frank about it, not by bad press but by its actual poor state.”

“It requires a major overhaul.”

Nasungkit ng SMC consortium ang kontrata para sa rehabilitasyon ng main international gateway ng bansa. Nagkakahalaga ang proyekto ng P170.6 bilyon. Iminungkahi ng winning bidder ang revenue share na 82.16 porsyento sa pamahalaan.

Ayon kay Marcos, ito ang pinakamabilis na naaprubahang PPP proposal sa kasaysayan ng bansa.

“But we did not sacrifice scrutiny for speed,” giit niya. “It was fast, but it was also fastidiously examined at every step of the way.”

Nauna nang sinabi ni Transportation Undersecretary Timothy John Batan na 12 buwan lamang ang project development process para sa nasabing PPP.

Kasama sa NAIA upgrade project ang rehabilitasyon ng passenger terminals at airside facilities tulad ng runway, aircraft parking area, at airfield lighting, maging probisyon ng mga pasilidad na magbibigay-daan para sa intermodal transfers sa airport terminals. RNT/SA
