MANILA, Philippines- Sumakabilang-buhay na si Cavite 4th District Representative Elpidio Barzaga Jr. sa edad na 74.
Inanunsyo ang pagpapanaw ng beteranong mambabatas sa kanyang official Facebook page nitong Sabado.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cavite 4th District Representative Elpidio ‘Pidi’ F. Barzaga Jr., in California, USA, Saturday afternoon (Philippine Time),” saad sa post sa kanyang social media page.
“As we mourn his loss, we find solace in the countless lives he touched and the enduring impact of his work. We humbly ask for your prayers and support during this difficult time,” dagdag pa rito.
Noong Oktubre, inanunsyo ni Barzaga na nakatakda siyang sumailalim sa open-heart surgery sa United States.
“Once I have recovered and regained my strength and vigor, I will carry on with my mission in life, which is to be of service to my fellow Dasmariñeros,” aniya sa Facebook.
Dating presidente ng National Unity Party, si Barzaga ay naging chairperson ng House natural resources committee sa 19th Congress. Nagsilbi rin siyang vice chairperson sa apat pang komite: cooperatives development, games and amusement, legislative franchises, at suffrage and electoral reforms.
Naiwan ni Barzaga ang kanyang asawang si Dasmariñas City Mayor Jenny Barzaga, at kanyang mga anak na sina Kiko, Third, at Enzo. RNT/SA
