Manila, Philippines – Hangga’t maaari ay gustong iatras muna ni Robi Dominggo ang kasal nila this year ng fiancee na si Maiqui Pineda dahil sa sakit nitong dermatomyositis, isang rare autoimmune disease.
Gusto niyang tuluyan muna itong gumaling bago sila magpakasal.
Pero gusto pa rin ni Maiqui na ituloy ang kanilang kasal sa original date na napili nila kahit hindi pa ito magaling.
Sabi ni Robi, “Actually, I told her about delaying the wedding. Pero she told me, ‘No, give me something to hope for.’ So, dapat walang delay.
“Kasi gusto niya na may target kami, may target date. Kailangan by that date or before that, um-okay na siya.”
Malaki rin ang pasasalamat nilang bumubuti na ang kalagayan ni Maiqui, subalit matagal ang gamutan nito.
“I have to be hands-on because she is focused on the betterment of her condition. So, kailangan habang iniisip niya yung sarili niya, ako muna sa lahat.”
Inamin ni Robi na seryoso ang kondisyon ni Maiqui.
“Last week, she went to Singapore and the doctors told her that her condition was life-threatening and lethal,” kwento ni Robi.
“So, ‘di ba, how would you feel when she told me about that? Siyempre, bagsak na naman ‘yung mundo ko, ‘Okay, ano lang gagawin namin?’
“But her determination keeps me moving forward, e,” sabi pa ni Robi. Rommel Placente
