MANILA, Philippines – Nananatiling prone ang Davao City sa matinding pagbaha sa kabila ng paglalaan ng hindi bababa sa P51 bilyong halaga ng infrastructure funds doon.
Ito ang sinabi ni Manila 6th district Rep. Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr., sa gitna ng mga tirada nina Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte at Acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte sa paparating na imbestigasyon ng House of Representatives sa kontrobersiya sa flood control projects.
“I think he received P51 billion in the three years that he was a congressman during his father’s time,” ani Abante.
Kinumpirma ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) na may P51 billion alokasyon sa infrastructure projects sa unang distrito ng Davao City mula 2020 hanggang 2022. Saklaw nito ang huling tatlong taon ni dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa Malacañang.
Sa pahayag ni Rep. Duterte na walang mga flood control structures na gumuguho sa Davao City, sinabi ni Abante, “Well, that is very good, no? But I was told that there are about 250 areas in Davao City that actually were flooded. I do not know kung humuhupa agad ‘yung, no, But it is flooded.”
“I have never accused him of any ghost project. I have never accused him of any substandard project,” dagdag niya.
Gayunpaman, itinuro ng pinuno ng Kamara na hindi niya nagustuhan ang pahayag ng kapatid ni Rep. Duterte, si Mayor Duterte, na ang imbestigasyon na iniutos ni Pangulong Marcos sa mga bigong flood control projects ay isang “PR (public relations) stunt” lamang.
Dagdag pa niya, dapat tanungin ng acting mayor ng lungsod ang kanyang kapatid na congressman kung ano ang nangyari sa bilyon-bilyong pondo sa imprastraktura na kinabibilangan ng flood control na inilaan para sa Davao city noong panahon ng panunungkulan ng kanilang ama.
“So sabi ko, why don’t you talk to your brother who received that much amount of money to find out what happened to the flood control projects that he had. P51 billion yan,” saad ni Abante.
Aniya, ang imbestigasyon sa flood control projects ay isasagawa ng joint panel na pamumunuan ni Bicol Saro Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, na magsisimula sa Martes, Setyembre 2. RNT/MND
