MANILA, Philippines – Agad na kumilos ang Supreme Court sa petisyon na isinampa ni Senador Bato dela Rosa na kumikwestyon sa ipinagkakaloob na kooperasyon ng gobyerno sa International Criminal Court, sa nangyaring pag-aresto kay dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Dahil dito ay ipinag-utos na ni Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo na i-raffle agad ang petisyon.
“Given the significance of this case and upon the Chief Justice’s instructions, a special raffle has been conducted pursuant to Rule 7, Section 7 of the Internal Rules of the Supreme Court,” pahayag ni High Court spokesperson Camille Ting.
Ani Ting, ito ay bilang tugon sa Rule 7, Section 7 ng Internal Rules ng SC.
Sa petisyon, hiniling nina Duterte at Dela Rosa sa SC ang paglalabas ng temporary restraining na nagbabawal sa pamahalaan na makipagtulungan sa International Criminal Court (ICC) sa imbestigasyon nito sa drug war ng nakaraang administrasyon, maging ang pag-asiste sa tribunal sa pagpapatupad ng arrest warrants, summons, o requests.
Hiniling din nila ang TRO na nagbabawal sa pamahalaan na makipag-ugnayan at magbigay ng tulong sa International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) o anumang foreign law agency sa pagsisilbi ng warrants.
“…and if already arrested, that the Honorable Court order that the petitioners or any other individuals in connection with the ICC’s investigation be immediately released,” saad sa petisyon. RNT/JGC
