MANILA, Philippines – Pormal nang inanunsyo ni Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano sa mga senador na magtitipon ang Senado bilang impeachment court sa Lunes, Mayo 18, alas-3 ng hapon para dinggin ang mga reklamong impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Sa liham na may petsang Mayo 15, sinabi ni Cayetano na natanggap ng Senado noong Mayo 13 ang resolution mula sa House of Representatives na naglalaman ng Articles of Impeachment at mga kalakip nitong dokumento.
Ayon sa liham: “In view of the foregoing, the Senate shall convene as an Impeachment Court on Monday, 18 May 2026, at 3:00 PM, in accordance with the applicable rules and procedure.”
Nakalagay din sa liham: “Pursuant to Rule I of the Senate Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials and consistent with its mandate under Article XI, Section 3 of the Constitution, the Senate has taken proper order of the impeachment and shall immediately proceed to its consideration.”
Dagdag pa ni Cayetano, ipinaalam na rin ng Senado sa Kamara ang kanilang aksyon sa pamamagitan ng liham na ipinadala sa House speaker noong Mayo 14.
Pinadalo rin ang lahat ng senador sa Session Hall at pinagsuot ng robe bilang senator-judges alinsunod sa Senate Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trials. RNT/MND
