MANILA, Philippines- Isang resolusyon ang inihain sa Senado upang paimbestigahan ang sinasabing “conflict of interest” ni Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga sa pag-aari ng pamilya na umaabot sa 40,000 ektarya ng kagubatan at ancestral domain sa Palawan.
Nakatakda sa inihaing Senate Resolution No. 985 ni Senador Raffy Tulfo base sa kolum noong Abril 3 sa Philippine Star na nagsasabing inaakusahan ang Yulo King Ranch ng land grabbing sa Coron at Busuanga sa Palawan.
Naitala sa artikulo na pag-aari ng pamilya Yulo ang lupain noong 1976 na labag sa Proclamation 1387 na ipinalabas noong 1975 sa ilalim ni dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Nilalaman din ng Proclamation 1387 ang pagtatayo ng pasture reserve sa Busuanga.
“The Secretary of DENR has been charged with the formidable duty of ensuring the management and conservation of the country’s natural resources and protected areas against exploitation,” ayon kay Tulfo sa resolusyon.
“Such allegations could undermine public trust in the DENR and affect its capability to effectively fulfill its mandate of making unbiased decisions regarding issues of similar nature, as well as protecting the environment and natural resources of the country,” dagdag niya.
Ipinaliwanag pa sa resolusyon na dapat imbestigahan ang alegasyon nang malaliman, “to ensure that public officials adhere to the highest ethical standards” and safeguard the public interest and maintain trust in public institutions.
Kasabay nito, pinabulaanan ni Yulo-Loyzaga sa pagpapaliwanag na pag-aari ng gobyerno ang Basuanga Pasture Reserve.
“The Yulo family has never owned this land and has no interest in owning it,” aniya.
Nilinaw din ng kalihim na walang kinalaman ang kanyang pamilya sa negosasyon na isinagawa ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) para sa paggamit at distribusyon ng Busuanga Pasture Reserve. Ernie Reyes
