MANILA, Philippines – Dumalo sa opening ng 20th Congress si Davao Rep Paolo Duterte subalit agad na umalis nang magsimula na ang eleksyon para sa House Speakership.
Hindi naman sasama si Duterte sa minority bloc bagkus ay bumuo ng independent bloc kung saan kasama niya rito sina Davao City Second District Rep. Omar Duterte, Davao City Third District Rep. Isidro Ungab at PPP party-list Rep. Harold Duterte.
“I did not vote for Speaker and did not join the Minority because I refuse to take part in a political circus that has long forgotten who it is supposed to serve — the Filipino people,” pahayag ni Duterte.
“I walked out after the roll call with my fellow Davao legislators because I represent the people of Davao City, not the political puppeteers nor the self-serving actors parading as public servants in Congress,” dagdag pa nito.
Alas-10:42 ng umaga nang lumabas ng plenary si Duterte, ilang minuto bago buksan ang botohan para sa susunud na Speaker kung saan si Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez ang solong nominado para sa posisyon. Gail Mendoza
