MANILA, Philippines- Inatasan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) na i-update ang Iron and Steel Roadmap ng bansa para matiyak ang patuloy na katatagan nito.
Sinabi ng Pangulo na sa oras na maging ganap na operational ang Compostela Works, magkakaroon ito ng annual production capacity na isang milyong tonelada ng rebar, dahilan para maging pinakamalaking ‘steel plant’ ang Pilipinas.
”In consultation with industry players, I urge the DTI to update the Iron and Steel Roadmap to ensure its continued stability and relevance amidst domestic and global challenges and trends,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa isinagawang inagurasyon ng Steelasia Compostela Works sa Cebu province.
”Let this inauguration attest to this administration’s unwavering commitment to invest in our people, in our nation, and our future. By localizing the production of basic steel products, we contribute to the generation of more inclusive and sustainable opportunities, the diversification of our steel industry, and the stability of our economy,” dagdag na wika nito.
Tinuran pa ng Pangulo na ang ‘economic and political challenges’ ang nakapag-diskaril sa pangarap na paghusayin ang steel industry.
Hinikayat din ni Pangulong Marcos ang DTI at Department of Energy na lutasin ang mga alalahanin ng industriya kaugnay sa ‘high power at logistics costs.’
